Back from Beijing!
I dun have any photos cos I didn't bring any cameras and the official photos from Qinyao are not out yet. But if you wanna see a few photos, do visit Kaishi's or Jonathan's blog. (I direct people to your blogs got recommendation fee or not?) But it was a VERY FUN trip! I'll just do a brief recap here.
1st day: Meet at airport fly to Beijing. When we reached Beijing, realised it was actually quite cold. Around 20 degrees, like aircon liddat. By the time we reached our hostel, it was already close to 1am, so we just went out for supper. Nothing interesing at supper cos we shared table with Prof Lau & wife, so not as fun as the other table. Gotta maintain certain standard you know... cannot talk too crappy with them when you dun know them that well... As if I talked much to them. Lol.
2nd day: Went for first company visit to CSDN. Very bad. Nearly dozed off a couple of times since we slept so late (around 3) after supper. Thankfully didn't sit front row. Oh wait I did. Dun care. Then went HSBC and Gobi Partners in the afternoon. Did not nod off at Goi partners only because I was standing throughout the discussion due to a lack of seats. But almost slept while standing too. Lol. Then went for the welcome dinner organised by the Tsinghua students. They really put in alotta efforts sia, go decorate the restaurant. Wonder if we must do the same when they come over Singapore. Then plus their food there so cheap, if we use the same budget maybe we bring them to hawker centre for welcome dinner le. Or maybe bring them eat the Beijing Feng Wei at the Biz canteen. LOL.
3rd day: Went Deloitte and CCB (Chinese Construction Bank, not watever else you were thinking).
4th day: Went to tour Peking and Tsinghua Universities. Then went to JP Morgan Chase. Their Universities are freaking huge la. Basket, even got lake inside lor. And its even a tourist attraction. -_-" And we also found out that their photocopy services only 5 cents (reminbi) per page. That's Singapore 1 cent!!! Can bring our next sem's lecture notes and tutorials go there photocopy? Lol.
5th day: We went to climb the Great Wall, went to Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Actually didn't climb muc of the Great Wall cos some of the girls not feeling well, so only climbed a little with them. And that was when we be came "sworn-siblings"... Lol. Ask Kaishi for details. Ahaha. Then we almost
ran through the forbidden city cos we went there quite late, close to the closing time. Wonder why its called Forbidden City when so many people are allowed in. Lol. But the place is under partial renovation, so did not get to see the 3 main bildings there. But good enough la. Ha. Then went Tiananmen Square to catch the flag lowering ceremony and found out that someone tried to burn the Mao Zedong portrait there just before we arrived. Lol. I made a racist joke there which is also political, so shall not say it here. If not this will be my last post ever before going jail. Lol. Ask me for the details if you wanna know... Lol.
6th day: Prepared and delivered our respective presentations on our findings.
7th day: Free day! Went to quite a few places to shop and look around. Developed a knack for bargaining there. Lol. There was even a point where I tried to bargain for
ice-cream. Lol. I asked the lady if buy 2 ice-cream can give one free when the ice cream only costs $4 reminbi. Lol. I didn't really buy alot though the things there were cheap. A point for comparism. The latest Command and Conquer game is selling here at S$54.90 while at Beijing, the original is sold at $55 reminbi (= S$11). LOL.
8th day: Fly home. There was some major cockup in the issuing of air tickets, resulting in 4 of the girls having to take a much later afternoon flight while the rest took a morning flight. Namah. At least everyone got home safely. But it was a fun trip overall. Ha.
We spent all our free time walking around, paddle boat at Bei2 Hai3 (although there were motor ones. And Gong Lei held his bladder until he almost couldn't walk. LOL), eating things like sea horse, scorpions, beetles, starfish and other disgusting things at Wang2 Fu4 Jing3, ate super delicious but super mouth-numbing Mala food, chilled out at the best bar (and the cheapest one too) we all ever been which serves the best pizza we ever ate and shot crazy videos and MVs you'll never get to see anywhere else.
If not for the crazy weather, I wished it wouldn't end....
